Sporekill is an excellent “first line of defense” for your greenhouse or growing area to keep pathogens at bay without the heavy chemical residue of traditional pesticides.

Sporekill is a highly versatile, non-systemic contact disinfectant and fungicide. It is widely used in commercial greenhouses, nurseries, and by orchid hobbyists because it effectively “sanitizes” the plant surface and the growing environment without leaving chemical residues that could interfere with plant growth.

Sporekill (Agricultural Disinfectant & Fungicide)

Sporekill is a highly versatile, non-systemic contact disinfectant and fungicide. It is widely used in commercial greenhouses, nurseries, and by orchid hobbyists because it effectively “sanitizes” the plant surface and the growing environment without leaving chemical residues that could interfere with plant growth.

Key Benefits for Orchid Growers

  • Broad-Spectrum Control: Destroys bacterial, fungal, and viral spores on contact. It is specifically effective against common orchid ailments like Anthracnose, Black Spot, and Powdery Mildew.
  • Built-in Wetting Agent: You do not need to add an adjuvant or “sticker.” The formula is designed to spread evenly across waxy orchid leaves and penetrate crevices where spores hide.
  • pH Independent: Its efficacy does not change based on the acidity or alkalinity of your water, making it stable in various water sources or when mixed with other fertilizers/fungicides.
  • No Residual Build-up: It works on contact and then breaks down, meaning it won’t leave a film that clogs the “pores” (stomata) of your orchid leaves.

Recommended Application Rates

  • Foliar Spray (Plant Sanitizer): * Rate: 5ml to 10ml per 10 Liters of water (or roughly 0.5ml to 1ml per 1 Liter).
    • Usage: Spray directly onto the foliage. Ensure you cover both the tops and bottoms of the leaves.
  • General Disinfection (Tools & Benches):
    • Rate: 100ml per 10 Liters of water (1% solution).
    • Usage: Use this to soak pruning shears (to prevent virus transfer), wipe down orchid benches, or sanitize empty pots and seed trays.
  • Irrigation Water Treatment:
    • Rate: 2ml to 10ml per 1000 Liters (continuous dosing).
    • Usage: Used to keep algae and pathogens out of misting systems and water tanks.

Usage Tips for Orchids

  1. Sensitivity Check: While generally safe (non-phytotoxic), orchids are sensitive. It is always recommended to test a single leaf or one plant before spraying your entire collection, especially with thin-leaved varieties.
  2. Timing: Apply early in the morning so the plants can dry before the heat of the day or the coolness of the night. This prevents “burning” from the sun and avoids leaving the plants wet overnight, which can actually encourage new fungal growth.
  3. Resistance Management: Because Sporekill is a contact sanitizer, it is excellent as a “knock-out” treatment. However, for severe or systemic infections, it is often used in rotation with systemic fungicides to prevent the pathogens from developing resistance.
  4. Safety: Always wear gloves and eye protection when handling the concentrate, as it is corrosive in its undiluted form. Once diluted to the spray rate, it is much safer but should still be handled with care.

Sporekill is an excellent “first line of defense” for your greenhouse or growing area to keep pathogens at bay without the heavy chemical residue of traditional pesticides.
