A Journey of Passion and Dedication
Orchid Boarding
Orchidoholics
- Orchid boarding is the process of sending out-of-bloom orchids to Orchidoholics254 for tender loving care until they re-bloom.
We have been offering orchid boarding services for the past 6 years. We proudly care for the orchid collections of over 40 clients by providing year-round attention, including watering, fertilizing, and pest control. Repotting and dividing, if necessary, may incur an additional fee.
Our customers use our service when they need to make room for their orchid collection, don’t have the time to care for their plants, or are away on vacation. All plants are subject to approval and inspection for health.
NOTE: We reserve the right to refuse any plants with signs of disease or insects.
Please note the following guidelines before considering boarding your orchid collection:
- We only consider healthy and pest-free orchids. Seedlings or flasks will be accepted at an extra cost and Orchidoholics254 will not be able to guarantee the survival. Please note that seedlings are normally 3-4 years away from flowering and plants in flasks about 6-8 years away from flowering.
- We cannot guarantee the survival of plants that arrive in a seriously weakened condition.
- The minimum space accepted for boarding is 10 square feet, with a fee of $55/month or $5.50 per square foot. Boarding is billed quarterly
- The number of plants that can be accommodated depends on the size of the plants: your boarding area is determined by the space required for optimal plant health.
- If extra space is needed, the additional cost is $5.50 per square foot per month.
- Owners are notified once via email or phone when a plant comes into bud or bloom. Clients may opt for pick-up or delivery service for an additional fee.
-
We regret that we cannot guarantee a continuous supply of blooming plants year-round. The number of blooming plants you will receive depends on the size and variety of your collection as well as the condition of the plants upon arrival.
Customers with minimum collections should expect to go months without receiving plants; this is normal. -
We provide a spa treatment for your plants each time you bring them back to us. All boarding plants being returned to Orchidoholics254 MUST be inspected and approved to avoid contamination. We will care for plants returned in damaged or dying condition as best as possible. However, if the damage is too severe, the plant will be removed from the collection.
Orchids are slow to recover, and excessive damage may result in the plant not blooming again for years. - Damage to plant leaves, stems, buds, flowers, or roots is permanent. Keeping your plant in our greenhouse will not "heal" pre-existing marks, scars, burns, pitting, wrinkling, rips, or breaks.
- We cannot guarantee your plant will bloom at the same time every year.
- We are happy to assist you in repotting and maintaining and expanding your collection size. However, we will advise against potting choices that may be detrimental to the health of your plants.
